Wow! Despite many viewings of the films, I hadn't touched this series in book form since I was a teenager. The Hunger Games takes on an entirely new light as an adult, especially in today's political climate.

Where I once may have been focused on the excitement of the competition and the thrill of the love story, I can now appreciate just how much nuance this YA story holds. The little sparks of rebellion - something I'd usually associate with later installments - were interesting to find scattered through, even from the very first chapter. Gale and Peeta were much more than my swooning teenage self could fully comprehend - Peeta especially is such an interesting character with great depth!

Overall, a thrilling and timely read. I can't wait to continue the series and see what else I missed the first time around.
