Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo

5.0

I don't really know what to say about a book like Because of Winn-Dixie. I read this multiple times as a kid, and re-reading it this morning was like slipping back into an old, familiar world. Reading War and Peace aloud a chapter at a time, the father who was more of a preacher and a turtle than a father, the Littmus Lozenges that taste like sadness... This is the book equivalent of a Littmus Lozenge. It's sweet and sad all at once.
