I loved this book! I've been following the author since the beginning of the writing process, and I feel like it was worth the wait. The world created so far in the book feels like it could exist, and it managed to avoid the pitfall of giving too much information, leaving me with just enough unanswered questions that I can't wait to read more. I love the main character, how she is built up to feel strong but also very clearly has her flaws and remains fallible. This book does feel more like a basis or a launchpad for the rest of the series though, as I don't feel like this book contains a full "story" in it's own right, unlike many other series. It is very open-ended, and doesn't leave you with a really satisfying ending. It does also fall into the trap of "you can tell which characters are important because they're the only ones the main character has any attraction to", and there are some clunky POV changes that on occasion do feel forced or unneccesary. All the same, I don't feel like they take that much away from the story. All-in-all, a great start to a series, but if you like you stories to have a good solid ending, maybe wait until the next book is out.
