Until the End of the World by Sarah Lyons Fleming

2.0

Until the End of the World is the first book from author Sarah Lyons Fleming and it shows.

The book was overly long and dived deep into the prepper life and life after the "world ends". I get it.. it's a Zombie Apocalypse book. However, I'm not looking to read a "how to" book to survive or the painfully tedious details of gardening and canning.

The pacing was awful and was truly a chore at times for me to read. The action packed sequences? 5 Stars. Everything in between? 2 stars at best. So much unnecessary detail and random flashbacks that are totally irrelevant.

Cassie, our main character, is supposed to be 28 yrs old but acts, talks and conducts her life like she is 17. The other characters aren't much more likable and the manufactured angst between Cassie, Ana and Peter is brutally painful to read for endless pages. So pointless and silly and out of place in a post apocalyptic world. Cassie is just not that likable and it's totally unbelievable that she is supposed to be some Zombie killing badass.

I actually backtracked to this series after I picked up Mordacious, the first book in the companion series The City. I was 28% into it and couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to read the first series before I read The City, but I almost wish I hadn't because now my excitement has plunged to the basement about continuing on with either series.
