This book definitely gets into some serious issues, so if you’re looking for a romcom, this isn’t it. At the same time it feels like those emotions are just skimming the surface of getting deep, so while I was thinking it was serious I didn’t personally resonate with it, even though one of the issues is something I personally am dealing with. It was a good read and if you listen to the audiobook the narrators did a great job. I think this book was good and it was really close to being very good, if it had gone a little deeper.
Graphic: Dementia and Grief
There are references to animal cruelty but no animals are abused in the book. I don’t do well with anything bad happening to animals and I was okay. There is a lot of talk about aftermath of grief (death of a sibling during childhood and death of a parent) with associated guilt. There are also scenes depicting dealing with a parent with memory issues.
