Stone of Farewell by Tad Williams

4.0

Ok so the book is good. This world and everything happening is interesting, and I am getting through it as quick as I can.

It’s a good tale, one with more than a few similarities to common fantasy but in a way that seems comfortable and familiar rather than cliched.

Williams can write; boy can he write. I own the Shadowmarch series of books and I am very pleased that I do if this is the sort of thing I can expect.

But

But

It’s just so…bloated. This could be cut and cut well, and it would not lose any of its grandeur. The issues I had with book 1 remain, but now as I’m 1700 pages into it I can’t really say that it’s tempered my enjoyment, even if some sections I kinda glazed over.

Very excited to see what’s next. To Green Angel Tower we go!
