This is not your average “vampire” story. This book was a well constructed ride that I didn’t want to end. Ughh I LOVE Tananarive Due and her writing! I was hooked but after part 3… I was GLUED TO THE BOOK. Due wrote this with the most beautiful and brilliant imagery. The characters are layered and carefully crafted. I know who these characters are and why they make the choices they make and it does not falter.  The twist near the end made me audibly gasp. I loved the incorporation of African background and Jazz Music. On to the next book!
