I am not sure if I haven't just paid attention that much to this book or is the story not really stimulating enough. 🤔

Just got the gist ~ an ex-fiance and insurance agent cum undercover agent who investigated the death of Maud Penderville, his ex fiance. As a war veteran himself, he is plagued not only by the horrors of his war experience but as well as the apparition of the famed white lady in Kilcogan which is believed as an omen of death in the Penderville clan.

What did I miss? Why Maud was killed? but turns out she was just an unfortunate collateral damage from a planned assassination.

She was just at the wrong place at the right time.
