I no longer have the patience for the over wordy unnecessary sentences. I am sorry but a whole chapter on the pros and cons of putting on a play? It wasn't just that there were many more social rules to acknowledge. I get that. But it still did not need to be that long. And small talk is something you put up with in reality, not in a book. I understand perfectly what was going on but I am glad this is not the norm for writing any more.
Maybe I am only going to enjoy Jane Austen stories in film and tv adaptations.
