The Chill by Scott Carson

4.0

So I went in search of an awesome Dam breaking GIF and instead was inundated with beaver shots

and I am not mad.
Breakdown: There is a a town called Gailsbou, it is in the cat skills and it gets wiped out in a man made flood/sinking after the government expropriated all the land to create a dam for New York city's drinking water, but the the city realizes only after all said and done it will be too much trouble to get that water and moves on. The government, am I right!?!
The people of Gailsbourg are now ghosts/a cult and they hate New York.
First off Gailsboug ghost cult get in line on people who hate New York, your not special.

Moving on.
This book was on several creepy/spooky reads list and there are ghosts, but nothing super spooky or bone chilling at all.
That is not to say it is not well done, it's a very cool well written story but I wanted a Halloween read for spooky October *pouts*
The setting in the mountains of upstate New York in the autumn with unending rain is so well done, and the main characters are likeable and relatable.
Probably 3.5 but we round up here.
