Every Day by David Levithan

Good Lord did I love this book! I read it mostly in the airport and on the plane during a family vacation and I didn't want to put it down. First of all, the premise is a highly original and creative idea, that could easily have been horrible, but the author handled it so well that it was excellent. The insights into the minds of teenagers of vastly different backgrounds was realistic and relate-able. All throughout the book I found myself dreading the ending, thinking that it would be anti-climactic or corny, but it turned out to be mostly satisfying and wrapped up well. The amount of time and effort spent on the different "host" person in each chapter was astounding, and for the few focal "hosts" with their one minor story lines i found I wanted closure on them, as due to the nature of the book, they were left up in the air (that is my only complaint). The author has compelling social commentary, especially on depression, gender identity and gender roles, and sexuality. This is brilliantly written, with a fantastic original story, and i would recommend it to anyone.
