I recommend this book. I am aware of the pure volume of people in my community that have read and relate to this book. That speaks numbers to me.
I adore the characters, the hints towards queerness, and the strangely obvious symbolism. The writing was just -too- obvious; I pieced together "Stay gold Ponyboy" too soon and it sort of spoiled the book a bit.
I believe if I had read this book in 6th grade I would have a much deeper emotional attachment to this book. I want to give Ponyboy a hug.
