A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin

3.0

Entertaining novellas in the tradition of Arthurian tales. Simple and innocent return to form. Doesn't quite feel like the GOT world. Better than the last GOT books.

Well written but not amazing. Relies too much on a few character traits so the main characters don't feel developed enough.

Would have been better if he'd explored the stories as full size books. Feels like theres a depth lacking and untapped potential for character developments. Would have liked to get to know side characters more.

Tries to explore political divides in the final novella but fails to make any interesting statements and ultimately sides with the status quo. Anticlimactic and unsatisfying conclusion but a nice diversion on the way there.

Enjoyed the portrayal of hedge Knight life, small and large scale political problems, and Dunk's unfortunate romantic life.

Looking forward to reading more Dunk and Egg stories.
