Check trigger warnings - I put off reading this book for awhile because of the trigger warnings, but it is a well-paced read and a dark, magical, harsh, emotional journey. I did find it very same-y after reading a few other romantasy books.
The characters were very enjoyable.
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who doesn't want to be triggered by SA though.
Spice level - low to mid...there's one explicit scene that I remember but perhaps discussions of more themes dotted throughout the book.
Trigger warnings - Flashback of SA/R with withdrawn consent, explicit scene later in the book
