This book was so cute, I couldn’t put it down! Growing up queer in a religious family, I understood the tension and apprehension Yami felt about being honest about who she is. This author does a great job of capturing that dichotomy of wanting to be yourself but having to keep yourself safe. The cast of characters are wonderful and add to the richness of the tapestry created by the author. As someone who does not have the most supportive family when it comes to being queer, seeing characters who do have supportive parents always makes me a little sad because there are so many kids who don’t have that, so it’s so important for them to be able to see that it can get better, that they’re supported. All in all this book was adorable and relevant and I absolutely loved it!
