This is a first for Australian Trans and gender diverse writing. It speaks to more to follow. The voices in it are diverse (this is a deliberate choice), some easier to absorb/follow than others but all worthwhile. I feel this is an anthology FOR trans and gender diverse people not just about us and I feel it's definitely not accessible for tourists (neither does it need to be).
To my surprise some of this seemed more academic than I was expecting though not in a strangling way. I was expecting mainly stories, maybe a couple of poems or artwork. Some writers have chosen to include references and I have to say for me that was useful.
