No Angel by Eric Palicki, Adrianne Palicki

3.0

Y'know those characters on a supernatural procedural that you wish had their own entire show? That's No Angel. Very cinematic, it takes place in the small hometown of Hannah Gregory, an Iraq War veteran returning to investigate and mourn the deaths of her father and brother. The information is obviously missing something at first glance, and when Hannah scratches at the surface the discoveries pour out, each one stranger than the last.

For Fans of: Lazarus and/or Black Magick by Greg Rucka, the Constantine mythos, Donny Cates’ Babyteeth, the Buffyverse but more specifically the Angel comics, and especially any Supernatural fans.

Art: A hard boiled detective story look matches Hannah's gruff mood, with long shadows and heavy inks. The villain in this arc is biblically spooky in concept, and their visual presence lives up to that.

Sell it: To anyone always down for a hard case about some cult stuff that happens to be real.
