White Feminism: From the Suffragettes to Influencers and Who They Leave Behind by Koa Beck

emotional informative medium-paced

5.0

"White Feminism" by Koa Beck is an insightful and thought-provoking book that left a deep impression on me.

I'm annoyed at myself that I discovered some issue that POC face everyday that I wasn't aware of but at the same time it was the point of reading this book.

Reading this book was a humbling experience, as I had no clue about many of the attitudes and behaviors that Beck critiques. However, rather than leaving me feeling helpless or defensive, the book left me feeling motivated to do better.

One thing that struck me about this book is how well it pairs with other feminist texts, such as Roxane Gay's "Bad Feminist". I feel like reading these two books together helped me to get a more complete picture of the issues facing women today and the ways in which we can work to make feminism more inclusive and intersectional.

Overall, I would highly recommend "White Feminism" to anyone interested in feminist theory, social justice, or simply looking to broaden their perspective. While it may be uncomfortable at times, I believe that this book is an important read for anyone who wants to be a better ally and advocate for women of all races and backgrounds.
