I don't like to rate memoirs anything other than 5 stars, because who am I to rate someone's lived life and their experiences?

It's always eye-opening to see the world through someone else's eyes, especially someone who dealt with and is going through stuff vastly different from my own. This memoir was both sadder than what I expected and also...not. I appreciate that Elliot was able to recognize that they were privileged in their trans experience towards the end. Though that doesn't make up for what they dealt with as a child.

Seeing someone's life through their own eyes is always incredibly interesting to me, especially if they're someone in the public eye. There's so much happening outside what we know or see and I always fine it really fascinating to hear their stories. This memoir is no different. As usual, I think everyone can learn something from viewing the world through someone else's eyes and this book is no different.
