Poppy and Alex have been friends since they did a car-share ride home to Ohio from Chicago their freshmen year, taking an annual summer vacation together for 10 years. For the last 2 years their friendship has diminished, and Poppy wants them to get a second chance in Palm Springs. The author Emily Henry is truly amazing at banter and thoughtful, accessible prose. Poppy and Alex are flawed, but Henry is super kind to her characters and portrays such a warm and hopeful side of the loneliness of the human condition.
