The Fragile Threads of Power by V.E. Schwab

5.0

Holy cow. This might be Schwab’s best work—taking the foundations from shades of magic and expanding the world, adding fantastic new characters, and making 648 (!!!!!) pages fly by. One of the best books I’ve read this year, and one of my favorite books ever.

Side note: WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CUTE ROMANCES THAT MAKE ME FEEL SO ALONE

@ Schwab: if you take my asexual queen Nadiya and make her the villain of the series I will be extremely put out.

Ahhhhhh I flew through those pages yet again. Schwab gets better every time I read them. The first time I read this book I remember being so nervous about what would happen that I was flying. Knowing what would happen did not make this read any less enjoyable, it just allowed the nuance and the characters to shine all the brighter. The little moments between action continue to be my favorites, the moments where the walls come down and they just exist together.

I don’t know how I’m going to wait until this series is finished, but also I don’t want it to ever end.
