4/4/23: i wish there was more sartaq and nesyrn in this. i just love them so much, and i don’t think there can ever be too much of them. also, yrene shoving hasar into the pool when she insulted chaol was possibly the best part of this book.

8/28/22: what is it with sjm and her creepy libraries? anyway, i wanna be borte’s best friend

12/30/19: chaol and yrene remain one of my favorite couples in this series. really, all the couples in this book are super soft and they're the only ones that were structured this way—the only ones who were able to kindle their relationships away from outright war.

i don't know why i expected nothing major to happen in this book. in hindsight, this was idiotic of me because everything in these books tie together and overlap in some way. basically this was so so good. there was a lot of character development and i was so happy to see Chaol overcome so many of the hard ships that he's faced in previous books. i am not ready for the next book bc i think everyone is going to die, but I'm excited to see how all the information that was learned in this book will play into the ending.
