I had read this book back in 2019 before the rest of the trilogy was out and I loved it. I loved it this time around too. The characters had so much depth and the world building pulled me in immediately. Rhen is broody and troubled and has been through so much and I loved seeing his growth. Harper was a bad-ass and I thought the cerebral palsy representation was done with care. Brigid's writing was so captivating and I alternated between audio and physical and was sucked in regardless. Not only were the main characters exciting, I thought the relationships formed with the secondary characters were really well done too. This book had me absolutely screaming and the twist at the end definitely shocked me even reading for a second time. I'm excited to read the other two books in the trilogy and can't wait to see where Kemmerer will take me.
