A group of girls are raised in a weird sick cult. They do weird shit, are abused and manipulated and are confused and stupid as hell. You're placed inside a cult and see it from the perspectives of characters affected by it. The narrators are very unreliable. I appreciate that, it's one of my favourite devices.

But overall, I found it pretentious. Piles contrived sensationalist shocks and  delivers them through muddled, pretentious storytelling to sound  mysterious and "literary". Particularly the bizarre rituals of the family are incomprehensible. Faux, and with a discernible man-hating mentality streak.
