The Emerald Storm by Michael J. Sullivan

5.0

The best of the series so far!

I'm a sucker for any time the emcees find themselves seafaring when they aren't pirates of seamen by trade. It's one of my favorite fantasy tropes <3

The oscillation between POV's was done extremely well in the back half of this book - and was the primary reason it felt impossible to put down.

We had group 1 (Royce, Hadrian, Wyatt, and the other seamen) as they journeyed across the sea and into the jungle and the group 2 (Amilia, Arista, and Modina) as they navigate their own, and no less dangerous, troubled waters. On the group 1 side we get a plot and action driven sequence that's entertaining and on the group side we get a character driven story of resilience, growth, and friendship that is incredibly satisfying.
