Hook Shot by Kennedy Ryan

5.0

4.5/5 | Kennedy Ryan did it again for me. I absolutely enjoyed this book so much, I decided to purchase the rest of the Hoops series. I’m so excited to read.
One thing about Kennedy Ryan is that she knows how to write chemistry PERFECTLY. Lotus and Keenan? Whew. Chefs kiss. Like I thought I was also in their relationship. I enjoy the little banter they have. How they communicate to each other. How they are around each other—I can feel their love. If you wanna know what soulmates are, think of Lotus and Keenan.
I love how relatable Lotus’s personality is as well. I see a lot of myself in her, which definitely brought me comfort. Keenan’s patience was also beautiful. He was so kind and gentle to her, and never made her feel guilty for not rushing sex.
What I can say is please do not go into this book without precautions. TW// Sexual Assault. This is extremely heavy and triggering. They talk and hinted what happened throughout the book, but Chapter 30 is very triggering. It is in detail. I couldn’t even read it entirely. I skipped to the end.

*Hinted Spoiler*

The reason why I gave it a 4.5 is because I do feel like chapter 46 wasn’t needed. It was more so for shock value in my opinion. If what happened was to set up for Keenan’s future, I feel like something else could’ve been done. Especially since we were still recovering from a previous tragedy.

But overall, I absolutely loved this book, and I do plan on reading it again before the year is over when I do my rereads of 2023. I highly recommend this if you want beautiful story that includes romance and tragedy.
