3.5

This book had so much potential to be a 5 star read for me until the last 10 chapters - where the plot twists were just for the sake of plot twists. 3.5 for the 80% of the book that was good

Spoiler I was particularly annoyed with the reveal that Wrigley is actually not a good person - I thought he's such a sweet character with a disability that he can get over, but the reveal felt vaguely ableist. The reveal that Jack is actually Merry also fell flat, because there's absolutely no hint or set up through out the book that built up to this. And on the whole, I went in expecting to read a scary book about exorcism but got none of that. The supernatural elements were heavily underused and just a gimmick at first.
