The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows

3.0

Read at Angel's Book Heaven

Okay, now that I am finished with this one,I have mixed feelings.

First, the premise of the story was good. Two kingdoms at war with each other.A young girl fighting for her throne. That was enough to make me curious and I picked up Orphan Queen.

Well, the only thing that was good was the premise.Honestly the book didn't grab me from the first page and yet I was determined to see it through.

The start was slow and while the action was good enough,it felt bleak at times. The only reason this one is getting three stars is because of the descriptions of wraithland. That part seriously brought goosebumps on my skin.*shudders*

Let's talk about characters,shall we?

Princess Wilhelmina : Princess of Aecor

Can I say sometimes I didn't get her?
Sure, she wanted to save her kingdom and protect her people .Though at times, seriously,I did not understand half the things she did.And if she was so badass, why did have she so much difficulty getting to know people around her? I mean how did she not see that coming.Even I saw that.

Melanie: Wilhelmina's best friend *uh,really?*

I did not like her.Really didn't. She was truly worse than Wil. This kind of made me appreciate my bestie and glad that I didn't have someone like Melanie.

Patrick : ...............?

Tobiah : Crown Prince of Indigo Kingdom

Another character that did not make any sense.I didn't like him as a prince and I didn't like him as a love interest. There is a secret surrounding him which I guessed way too early.
I don't see any actual chemistry there.Between Tobiah and Wil.Not an ounce of it.
He was not mysterious or even charming. His secret somewhat kept him interesting
Spoiler him being Black Knife
.

James: Tobiah's Bodyguard and friend

James was the one character that I did like.*thank goodness*He was much better than Tobiah, that's for sure.

There are certain consequences that Wil has to face due to what happened in this one and that is one reason to bury myself in book 2.

I wonder what happens after that ending?!
