Harrowing, gut wrenching and brilliantly written.
For me, this felt less like a horror novel, and more a piece of historical fiction honestly portraying the horrors of the not so distant past, with a paranormal edge. I don’t think this book would have been any less haunting if the ghosts had been omitted all together but their presence was beautifully intertwined and made for such an interesting twist.
This book isn’t easy to stomach. It’s painful and horrifying and incredibly raw but it’s equally powerful and compelling and will made you feel anger and hurt in the deepest parts of your soul. It will have you on the edge of your seat, wanting to scream with rage but one things for sure; you won’t want to put this book down.
