I was really sad when the show was cancelled and was very excited to read the source material. As much as I enjoyed reminiscing of what I love about the restaurant industry, and the parts I don't love as much, I found the longer the book went on the more I started to dislike the FMC.
I get that she's young and in the big city and exploring adulthood and independence for the first time, but the deeper into the story I got, the more she started to lose her luster, and by association, the story as a whole.
Yet another reminder that the restaurant industry is rife with good memories, bad memories, double standards, contradictions and violently charged emotions and hormones.
3.5/5
