Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella

3.0

This didn't hold up the way that the first two books did. It was slower and a frustrating overall read.

The character of Danny was really stupid and I didn't see the merit to that at all. Becky loves fashion and has really high-end tastes, it seems a bit far fetched she would wear a "t-shirt gown" (whatever the hell that is) with shoddy workmanship or a wedding dress with denim on it (gross?).

I thought this book would show us Becky buying six wedding dresses or some such shenanigans. The concept of other people planning her wedding was very un-Becky (she would have LOVED buying all the wedding goodies and I can't see her taking a backseat the way she did!). The fact that she prevaricated admitting the two weddings on the same day thing literally ruined this book for me. It was total nonsense and so drawn out it gave me anxiety to read it.

As an aside I still have no idea how Becky and Luke are together. They have nothing in common whatsoever and Luke comes off as more of an authoritarian father figure than Becky's true match.

The Elinor bits were cringe worthy and the bargain Becky makes with her is absurd. Any normal person would have not interfered and just let it go. What a colossal waste of time and resources to have a fake wedding. When Alicia appeared I though Becky would give her the Palace date to try and be the better person, instead she had a fake wedding which is preposterous!

I will read the next book in this series as I'm hoping this is just a one-off. I hope it's more like the first two!
