Batman & Robin, Vol. 1: Batman Reborn by Grant Morrison

4.0

You know when Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly team up you’re going to get a quality story. I really enjoyed this team’s All Star Superman and was curious to see what these masters would do with Batman and Robin. I tried to read Batman R.I.P. when it was coming out.. but I was just so confused by the end I didn’t know what was going on. Too many crossing storylines and tie-ins from different series, too many different writers, and all on top of Grant Morrison’s craziness. I should probably revisit that storyline at some point and read the rest of it, but I’d rather just skip ahead to this series.

Overall Batman Reborn was a decent story. Beautiful artwork, interesting villains, and I loved the love/hate dysfunctional relationship between the new Batman and Robin. I enjoyed watching these new heroes fumbling through their new roles and adjusting to their new identities. Although this wasn’t my favorite Batman story, I did enjoy the story and am curious to see where this team takes things next. If you know me at all then you know that I’ll pretty much read anything by Morrison and Quietly and I have already picked up the next volume.
