Wow! This was my first book by Lauren Rowe and it won’t be my last!
It’s a unique spin on the single dad trope. Caleb, drummer for a famous rockband, knew he had a child out there, the outcome of a one night stand with a fan. But being so wrapped up in the touring life, he didn’t want to be involved except to pay child support. But he’s thrust into it when the mother of his child is killed by a drunk driver.
Aubrey had been living with and helping her bestie raise her little baby, Reyna. When she finds out her best friend has been killed, she moves home to a small town for support to raise her best friend’s baby.
This was sweet! I loved the big, tough, rough looking drummer totally melting for his daughter and doing everything he needed to be in Reyna’s life. And Aubrey showed so much strength and patience. Not only did she fall easily into the role of mother, she also helped Caleb in more ways than one. Their dynamic was so fun. And when they both finally give into the tension, it’s so good!
Reyna was a fun toddler to read about. Her speech patterns were very representative of a two year old. The only thing that was unrealistic/unbelievable in her storyline was the potty training stuff.
Andi & Sean were phenomenal!! I loved hearing them together. The audiobook was well done! The performances were perfect.
Thank you, Home Cooked Books, for the ALC!
