Captain marvel trade by Kelly Sue DeConnick trade 1. This has a very entertaining story, with a very good rhythm between the fun and the serious topics. The art is also quite good. And the guest appearances by the Guardians of the galaxy are also very nice.
the only slight downside is that the story builds upon another story which I think is from the Avengers, but I'm not that far along in the avenger story to already know what exactly happens. But this is a minor point because with some deduction you get the gist of what happened and you don't really need more then that to understand this story.
