The Folk of the Air by Holly Black

3.0

I really struggled to get into this series. I think it was more because it wasn't what I expected.

The story is very political, which I've not read much of before and wasn't expecting. Based on other reviews, I was expecting more romance and excitement in that department, but for me, it was severely lacking.

It felt very serious a lot of the time, and just personally, for me, I need more excitement, romance, and happiness in between all the serious. Something to get excited and hopeful about, but for me, this just took far too long.

There were lots of aspects of the book I did like though. I loved the FMC. Some twists in the story kept me on edge, and the action scenes were really good. There were some friendships I really enjoyed.

I might try this again in the future. Now I know more about what to expect.

If you like political fantasy books with a hint of romance, then you'll probably enjoy this series.
