New Morning Mercies: A Daily Gospel Devotional by Paul David Tripp

5.0

This was first devotional I've completed that spans an entire year, although I've finished it a month early. I adored going through the devotional writings each day and found them to all be rooted in Biblical Truth. I appreciated the daily passages suggested for further study and encouragement, especially that they were for entire chapters or passages from books of the Bible. I often find devotionals or Bible reading plans will take singular verses out of context, usually manipulating them into the lesson the author wants to convey instead of what the Word conveys. I would highly recommend this devotional and look forward to revisiting it in a few years!

My only criticism is that the pronouns referring to God and Jesus were not capitalized, which I find disrespectful. That said, the heart of God was constantly on display throughout this devotional and I loved how grace was a constant theme. I also loved the emphasis on looking vertically for the things that only God can provide, as opposed to our tendency to look horizontally to others for fulfillment.
