Witch Is When Life Got Complicated by Adele Abbott

4.0

This sequel was such a fun listen.

Jill is back - with the zany Mrs. V, her sister Cathy, her new-found witchy fam, and all the complications with balancing a PI firm, family, and learning new spells.

There was a lot happening in this one - crimes to solve, spells to learn so tests could be passed, her sister, and more. One thing that makes this different from other cozy listens is that Jill is working on case after case after case, so it's interesting to listen to the different types of cases she stumbles on, and how she consistently seems to show up the local police.

One thing I do not enjoy is her sister Cathy. I cannot tell you how many times she made me so annoyed with her character. It's to the point that I'm ready for Jill to move to Candlefield and just be around her new witchy family because Cathy really over-steps her bounds too many times.

With that said, I love all the other characters - returning and new. They are so fun, but I think my favorite is grandma. Man, she does not hold back at all. Her expectations are high, and you either meet them or she flames you (but not literally). This leads to many comical moments. I had to stop myself from laughing while I was listening at the gym.

Really looking forward to the next one. Here's to more in Candlefield and less of Cathy.
