This was an emotional, raw story of a family and how they move through trauma they have faced. The writing was really beautiful and I loved how they used food to illustrate the emotions and situations in the story. I loved the diverse queer cast in this story and my favorite character was probably Taiye. This book reminded me of "Girl, Woman, Other" which is another great book. I loved watching the characters unpack their own trauma through reconnecting with their family. This book has a lot of insight in the ways in which everyone carries their trauma with them, and how it informs our different perspectives.
