Thor, Volume 1: The Goddess of Thunder by Jason Aaron

5.0

My daughter was about 3 months old when Marvel announced they were writing a female Thor, and I couldn’t have been happier to hear it. It’s exactly the type of world I hope she grows up in, one where gender/race/religion have nothing to do with your ‘worthiness’...and while that world might still be coming even when she’s grown up, this is a tiny step in the right direction. So you can imagine my delight when I finally got to read it, and it lives up to every ounce of the hype I’ve inflicted upon it.

Thor Odinson has some become unworthy, and Thor, Goddess of Thunder steps in to wield Mjolnir so the name can live on. The story so far has mystery, some comedy, lots of intense action, and does a fantastic job of impresses us with how power our new Goddess really is, as she does things with the Mighty Hammer Odinson never thought of. The writing is fantastic, the art is a step above, and I can’t imagine better pacing. And I’m considering a comic subscription for the first time in 20 years, it’s so good.

If you like Asgard, Marvel, Thor, or anything remotely cool, you need to read this comic.
