I love these! I've read them before, but I checked them out of the library, so sometimes had to wait months in between volumes. I've been slowly buying them over the last year or so and finally dived back in.
These are gorgeous comic books. When we get to Buckingham's splash of the farm...wow! And then the ... another wow moment. These are simply beautifully detailed drawings. The colors are fantastic, and I take nothing away from Vozzo, but Buckingham's illustrations are the bones.
On top of all this beauty we get one of the best GN stories ever. Willingham loses no originality despite being saddled with characters with a past. It's these characters present that Willingham gives us and it is fantastic! Expanding on characters we all grew up with must be a daunting task. Get it right and people may like it, but one false step and everyone hates you. Willingham takes no false steps.
