I really like how the characters in Alice‘s books tend to be aware of any unfair judgement/thoughts they’re having. They still feel that way & no one’s invalidating that; but they acknowledge when they’re being unfair and then try to deal with their feelings. I think her books are great examples for YA stories with a good balance between immaturity / relatability and maturity / accountability / character growth
