The Discreet Pleasures of Rejection by Bruce Benderson, Martin Page

3.5 stars.

I'm currently in a "finish books I started a long time ago" phase. I started this one at Christmas last year and decided to just finish it. I enjoyed its weird premise quite a bit--it's funny and surreal. I did feel myself losing interest partway through but I'm unsure now if that was the book or me. Picking it up again, I thought the ending was just fine. It worked out in a satisfying enough way.

As an aside, I thought this was a very well done translation. The syntax and grammar were natural, but still managed to convey that it had originally been written in another language.
