The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

1.0

Many people on GR have spent way more time and effort on all the reasons why this book sucked, I wasted enough of my time reading it so I'm not going to waste more time writing an actual review but everything about it made me roll my eyes. Yes, it's about kids with cancer and yes, it's sad, but 16 year olds don't magically develop the ability to monologue with 35 complicated, philosophical words strung together in a single sentence, so there was no feeling of real connection with any of the characters. Hooray, lots of metaphors, but that just wasn't enough substance to carry the novel.
