All the Pieces Matter: The Inside Story of The Wire by Jonathan Abrams

informative reflective fast-paced

5.0

Excellent oral history of one of television's best and most ambitious series. Thankfully, the book doesn't get too bogged down in the show's legacy. Instead, it's a true history of the show's production and fight to stave off cancelation throughout it's 5 season run.

Told by the people who worked on the show, this book also does not mince words when it comes to the social relevance of The Wire and its role as a mirror to failing societal institutions and politics.

Really in depth and informative. It was also great but bittersweet to hear specifically from Michael K Williams and Lance Reddick as they've both recently passed away.

Highly recommend for fans of The Wire or TV, in general.
