The Sacrifice by Rin Chupeco
4.0
oooh i'm so torn. all i know is that this is a 3 to 4 star rating for me. i'll bump it up to 4.
i liked this book, okay. i liked the plot twists, the slow reveal of stuff. i kinda knew that Alon but also i was surprised that they lmao. it made sense to be honest.
i also like how the ritual! i was fully expecting but that was a nice subversion of the trope.
and of course, the colonialism comments *chef's kiss*. although, it is weird that they're supposed to be near Leyte but Alon's speaking in Tagalog. they were also so i don't know. It would have been cool if Alon did speak in Waray the few times that he talked using a Filipino language.
this is scary but not "put down the phone to recover" scary for me. i made a lot of "ooh that is disgusting" faces while reading though hahaha. maybe this is why i'm on the fence about the rating. but all in all, this is a nice spooky read.
