Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison

4.0

In a world where humans live side by side with witches, warlocks, wereanimals and vampires, Rachel Morgan is a white witch who works for the Inderland Security as a bounty hunter. Lately, she had been getting low-level jobs and constant hell by her boss. Finally, when forced to chase after a tax-evading Leprechaun, she decides she had it and quit her job. However, Ivy, one of IS's top runners who happens to be a living vampire, decides to quit her job as well and join Rachel in forming a new company. The IS was quite willing to let Rachel out of her contract, but when Ivy joins her they decide to put a bounty on Rachel's head. The only way she could prevent her quick death would be to catch one of the biggest Brimstone suppliers in Cincinnati and have her contract bought off. With the help of Ivy and her pixie bodyguard Jenks, Rachel races to save her life and catch her bad guy.

Harrison does an interesting job of describing the preternatural characters in the book, especially the main trio of Rachel, Ivy and Jenks. It was a nice easy read that I enjoyed.
