This is a really delightful collection of short essays from a wide range of writers about how they got published--including some who raise the question of what it means exactly to be a "published author." While it does raise the familiar specter of huge stacks of rejections and months and years of waiting for responses from agents and editors, these authors, whatever level of success they've achieved since that first break, don't lose sight of the joy of writing in between the trials of publication.
