Flake of Snow: A Winter Solstice Special by Stacey Willis
5.0
These short stories hit me right in the feels! There are five in total for various main (Savannah/Kori, Soren and Thanatos) and side characters (Calem and Abigail) and I loved each and every single one for different reasons.
Kori's gave us an inside into her relationship with her mom and how it changed after everything that happened in the first two books. It also showed us a little about her relationship with Apollo before the events of book three; the details were both heartwarming and breaking. And that ending hurt the most but the beginning of book three made up for it.
Soren's was the opposite; heartbreaking in the beginning as we got more info about his life before he became a reaper and then it was a cute sweet and surprising story about how Melchior wanted to change Christmas for him and he totally succeeded!
Calem's short story was the most heartbreaking out of them all. My boy has been through so much, I was so happy to see him finally have friends who love and support him. What he wanted to do for Snowflake was the cutest thing ever but her and Pumpkin's surprise brought tears to my eyes - especially his reaction!
Abigail's was downright adorable. I just wanted more. I wanna know more about Ahlid and what happens next with him and Abigail. The whole secret Santa thing was just so cute and the things he did to avoid her and how he grew insane trying to figure her out... They're just so cute!
Thanatos and Nina are one of my favourite couples in the saga! I just love their journey so much and even though this was a very short story between the events of books two and three, I feel like it showed an important side of their relationship. How they will have to learn to support one another and not take their burdens on their own.
Overall, this gave the perfect Christmas/Winter vibes. Each short story was unique and they basically showed a lot of sides of the holiday; some were heartbreaking, some heartwarming and others were both. You should definitely read this before Mark of Kori; it makes the story even more detailed and heartbreaking.
