Youngbloods by Scott Westerfeld

4.75

When I reread Uglies earlier this year, I was frustrated by how Tally is essentially a different character in every book. While it makes sense with the constant invasive surgeries, it was annoying. I hated the Tally of Specials and Extras.

I was nervous that Tally would be reappearing in this book, as I didn't have a clue what to expect of her character wise. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed her in Youngbloods. She felt much more cohesive to me, and even if I thought some of her actions were ridiculous they at least made sense from a character standpoint.

Outside of Tally, I enjoyed the book in general too. It's definitely not perfect but I'm relatively satisfied with how things have ended. I'll always want more books in this universe and I'll always have unanswered questions. At this point, I'm okay with that.
