Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

4.0

So i finished Six of Crows and dove right into this book because come on, that ending?! This book was an absolute delight! It gave us so much world building around Ketterdam and developed the characters we've come to love even more, um Wylan, what an absolute sweetheart. My Inej/Kaz love took on a new life, that intimate scene in the bathroom, oh my. Nina and Inej's friendship is also so beautiful and such a truthful telling of female friendship.

In so many ways this book gave me what I wanted, more heists, cons within cons within cons, character backstory; but it just felt like it ended a bit flat. I've read somewhere that Bardugo intends to write a 3rd book, set far in the future, which would be PERFECT and i would change this to a 5 star instantly, but it feels as though readers have been left in the lurch a little. There are so many potentials, Nina and her new powers and her mission with the druskelle, Jesper and Wylan, the entire plot with jurda parem, KAZ AND INEJ COME ON, need I say more.

Before the cliffhanger of the first book I actually envisioned the second book being a time jump, to when these kids are a little bit older, so I do feel it is inevitable. But god I just hope we don't have to wait too long!
